Roxbury’s own Oompa has become one of Boston’s most powerful and original voices — a rapper, poet, vocalist, and performer who brings raw lyricism, fearless storytelling, humor, vulnerability, and real-life experience into her music.
Her journey speaks for itself. Oompa became the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, earned Unsigned Artist of the Year at the 2018 Boston Music Awards and Live Artist of the Year in 2019, and gained national recognition as an NPR Slingshot Artist to Watch.
From projects like November 3rd, Cleo, and Unbothered to rocking major stages including Boston Calling, Oompa has continued to carry Roxbury and Boston with her while creating a lane that is completely her own.
